Following the success of the first seminar in Brussels in 2022, SAAM organizes the second international training in the EU capital from the 28th of February to the 2nd of March and this time the focus will be the internationalization strategy
From the 28th of February to the 2nd of March, 60 participants from 24 different countries will reunite in Brussels to attend the second SAAM seminar “A journey towards internationalization” where it will be explained how an international department is established in an educational center in order to organize and coordinate training mobilities.
SAAM is a pilot project financed by the European Commission that aims to promote Vocational Education and Training mobility between Africa and Europe for both VET professionals and students. The project is promoted by San Viator (Spain) and coordinated by Mundus (Spain). In 2022, the project conducted a first seminar in Brussels that focused on capacity building for leadership in VET mobility and taught the SAAM partners which are the basic tasks of a mobility coordinator and some tips to start taking part in cooperation projects. After the success of that first training, the SAAM team organizes a second seminar where networking will be explained, successful international networks will be presented and the partners will be taught how to create an internationalization strategy. The event will be hosted by EfVET (European Forum for Vocational Education and Training) and EVBB (European Association of Institutes for Vocational Training), two important European networks that are also part of SAAM.
The second seminar comes at a key moment in the project, with more than 300 mobilities already completed and of which 65 have been students and about 100 mobilities of both European and African professionals. Now that the African partner centers of the project have lived the experience of sending students to Europe and they have seen the positive impact this mobility has on their return, the 2023 training will focus on explaining how to establish an international department. The objective is that once the funding period of the project ends, the centers involved continue with these exchanges between Africa and Europe by applying to new projects, creating new partnerships, joining existing networks and encouraging other centers to do the same.
The agenda of the 3-day seminar includes spaces to talk about the importance of networking, funding opportunities and showcasing examples of internationalization. The speakers will be members of the SAAM partnership with expertise in the topics, but institutional representatives of the European Union and the African Union will also present all the possibilities currently offered regarding international mobility and cooperation projects.
